Dog Grooming Tips

Here are some tips on taking your dog to a groomer for a Braw Cut:
- Look for reviews and recommendations from other dog owners. You can also check if the groomer is certified or a member of a professional grooming association.
- Groomers can get busy, so make sure to book an appointment in advance to avoid disappointment. You may also want to consider scheduling your dog's grooming during off-peak times to minimise stress. I know I ALWAYS leave it too late.
- It's important to get your new puppy in for a puppy groom as soon as you can after they're fully vaccinated. This 'puppy groom' is an introduction to grooming, getting your dog used to the new experience at a young age. This will teach them to be comfortable and confident with the experience when it comes time for a full groom.
- Get your dog used to being touched and handled by people. You can practice by gently touching and brushing your dog at home, especially in sensitive areas such as ears and paws.
- If your dogs breed is prone to 'matting' it's good practice to brush them daily to avoid discomfort. If your dogs hair is left to 'matt' it can cause a number of issues like skin irritation & infections, overheating, restricted vision or movement, discomfort and could attract parasites. If 'matting' is severe your groomer will have no choice but to shave the dogs hair short for the dogs welfare
- Be clear about what kind of grooming services you want for your dog. Also, let the groomer know if your dog has any medical conditions, allergies, or special needs.
- Make sure to bring your dog's vaccination records and any other important documents that the groomer may need.
- Keep your dog on a lead when you arrive at the groomer to prevent them from running away or getting into fights with other dogs.
- Check your dog for any cuts, rashes, or other issues after the grooming session. Let the groomer know if you notice anything unusual.
Regular grooming can help keep your dog healthy and happy. By following these tips, you can make the grooming process easier and less stressful for both you and your dog (AND your groomer).
